Welcome to our futsal page. We will use this page to share lessons and learning about futsal. Our first focus for learning is to learn about what futsal is and the rules of the game.
Every player should watch this video on the rules of the game and become generally familiar with the rules. After the first week or so these will all become second nature. Please make sure to watch this video prior to our first practice on 2 DEC 2024.
Here is a link to the futsal rules we will follow. I expect every player to read through these rules. Yes, this is a reading homework assignment. I expect you to read through them prior to our first practice on 2 DEC 2024.
- Week 1 - Learning the Game
-
Our focus this week will be on learning the game of futsal and how it differs from soccer. We will focus on the rules and some game concepts. The rules in particular we will focus on are:
- Substituting in front of our bench and "hand slapping"
- 4 seconds for a kick-in and the ball MUST BE STATIONARY ON THE SIDELINE!!!!
- Goal clearances: 4 seconds and opposing team must go back to midfield line
- 4 seconds for the keeper to possess the ball (whether with your hand or feet)
Tactical game concepts we will focus on are:
- 2 fixo (defenders) - 2 pivo (forwards) formation
- Since kick-offs are direct we shoot on for our kick-offs
- Since the opposing team's kick-off is direct we build a wall when they kick-off
- Keepers look deep to pivots in front of the net
Please watch this video to see how some really good kids about your age play the game. Notice how are and fast they pass the ball. Notice their work rate (how much they sprint offensively and defensively). Also, watch how the rules are applied in this game.
While you watch the game notice a few of the following things:
- During kick ins and other situations after the ref has started play he starts to count seconds with his arm motion. You have 4 seconds to play!
- See how much the players are sprinting offensively and defensively
- Notice how quick, accurate, good tempo passing and smart runs leads to goals
- Week 2 - To be published
-
Based on our observations of our first week of training and games we will develop a training plan for this week. My first thought is to focus on defending both as an individual and team. Get that done and then spend the rest of the season on attacking.
